Remember how exciting it was to graduate high school, leave home for the first time, and go away to college?  Whether it happened two years ago or twenty, that’s a memory most people cherish for life.  How would you like to re-live it all through the eyes of a Wilson County senior?

240 mentors are needed throughout the county to help work with students receiving free college tuition, through the TN Promise scholarship program.  So far, only 62 residents of Wilson County have answered the call to volunteer.  That leaves 178 open slots that need to be filled between now and November 20th.

Being a mentor is easy!  All you have to do is sign-up online, by clicking here.  Once registered, you’ll be paired with a student you’ll help guide through the process of meeting important deadlines, registering for college, and answering any questions they may have, as they begin their journey as a college freshman next fall.

While this may sound overwhelming, being a mentor only requires a time commitment of approximately one hour per month, and the impact you have on this student’s life can be life changing, particularly for those who are the first in their family to ever go to college.

Note:  If your son or daughter hasn’t applied for TN Promise, time is running out!  All paperwork MUST be submitted by November 1st.
