The Board of Education took the following actions at their regularly scheduled Board Meeting on October 27, 2009:

Recognized the 2008-09 Certified Retirees for a total of 375 Years of Service
Adopted the 2010-2011 Course Catalog
Approved 2009-10 Graduation Dates
Accepted a Report on AYP from Felicia Duncan
Adopted a Resolution Honoring the Director of Schools the Week of November 16-20, 2009
Deferred Contract with the Wilson County Water/Wastewater Authority for Lakeview Elementary
Approved School Compliance Report
Approved Surplus List for Surplus Auction. 
Approved on 1st Reading Changes to Board Policy #1.806 and Board Policy #4.803
Approved to Amend the Salary Schedules for the Cafeteria Fund and the Extended School Program Fund in Order to Comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act
Accepted a Report from Mickey Hall, Deputy Director of Schools on Payments for September, 2009
Accepted a Report from County Attorney, Mike Jennings
Accepted a Report from Mike Davis, Director of Schools

Mr. Davis reported to the Board that 95 new students had enrolled in Wilson County Schools since returning from Fall Break and Fall Intersession.  These students have come from as far away as Germany and Alaska, as well as transferring from local private and public school systems.

November 16-20, 2009 is American Education Week and I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our teachers for all they do for the boys and girls of Wilson County.  Teachers, know that you are appreciated each and every day of the year.

The following Wilson County Schools’ teachers received mini-grants through the Business & Education Coalition, Education Division of the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce:

The 2009-2010 Graduation Dates are:

      • Lebanon High School – May 28, 2010 – Lebanon High School – 7:00 p.m.
      • Mt. Juliet High School – May 25, 2010 – Sommet Center – Nashville, TN – 7:00 p.m.
      • Watertown High School – May 27, 2010 – Watertown High School – 6:30 p.m.
      • Wilson Central High School – May 29, 2010 – Time and Location to be Announced
      • Adult High School – June 13, 2010 – Time and Location to be Announced

 

Schools will be dismissed November 25th through 27th and the Central Office will be closed November 26th through November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish teachers, staff, parents and students a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving Holiday.
