Monday, November 21st, at 8:00 a.m., Wilson County Schools will host a groundbreaking ceremony at the former Lebanon High School, located at 415 Harding Dr. in Lebanon. The photo, shown here, is a rendering of what the facility will look like, when it’s completed next fall.

Since 2012, when the new Lebanon High School was built, this campus has been used mostly for storage.Groundbreaking

Recently, the Wilson County Commission approved a 20-million dollar renovation project, which will bring nearly every department within the Wilson County school system under one roof, for the first time ever.
Wilson Co. Schools Deputy Director, Mickey Hall, says, “This is going to really streamline our operation. Not only will it create better efficiency among our departments, but the facility will have an auditorium and other training rooms that will enable our staff to provide and receive Professional Development, without interfering with the daily activities at our schools. The room we use for school board meetings will double in size, and the building that currently houses our central office will be converted to classroom space for our alternative school.”

In recent years, the student population of Wilson County has been growing at a rate of about 600 students per year. Because of this unprecedented growth, 4 existing schools are currently being renovated, 1 new elementary school is under construction in Mt. Juliet, and just last week, funding was approved for a new Middle School in Gladeville.

Schools Director, Dr. Donna Wright, says, “To put it into perspective… we have 98-million dollars in building projects going on simultaneously, all of which has been done without adding a single new tax. That’s remarkable, and it’s a testament to how supportive our County Commission has been. They are forward-thinking in their approach, and are walking with us, hand in hand, to ensure that we’re able to offer a quality education to our current and future students.”
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, county leaders will attend groundbreaking celebrations at the 4 schools that are currently being renovated. Media outlets are welcome to join us on this tour. Below is a schedule of locations and times.
