Mrs. Pickney, Mrs. Sloan, and Mrs. Crook provide additional support and services for students who may be experiencing difficulty in one or more academic areas.  This support is provided through consultation with classroom teachers, inclusion classes, and/or pullout classes when needed.  Prior to receiving this additional help, students must go through Lakeview’s RTI (Response to Intervention) program for several weeks and then be evaluated for eligibility.  Once eligibility has been determined, parents and staff plan a program that will best meet the child’s individual needs in the least restrictive environment.

     Multisensory approaches and various programs are utilized in Mrs. Pickney’s classroom, including Wilson Reading, Wilson Fluency, Fundations, Making Math Real, and others.  Read 180, System 44, Do the Math, and FastMath will be coming soon.  Progress monitoring is conducted frequently to ensure that all students are progressing and improving their academic skills.

     If your child has gone through the RTI process and you feel he/she may need additional help, please contact your classroom teacher or our school counselor.
