THE DEVILS’ ADVOCATE

Lebanon High School’s Newspaper

 

PURPOSE:  To provide a publication to inform Lebanon High School students of school events, personalities and information concerning their high school experience:

 

1.       Provides the only news periodical specifically addressed to the school and its unique community.

2.       Serves to unify the student body by appealing to its members’ common interests and concerns.

3.       Provides a forum for student expression and ideas.

4.       Offers a medium for written communication of information that can be conveniently disseminated in no other way.

5.       Attempt to provide fair, well-rounded, unbiased coverage of the school as a whole.

6.       Promotes high standards in journalistic writing and shared ethics for writers and readers alike.

7.       Helps students see the importance of print journalism to citizens of school, community and country.

8.       Deepens students’ understanding of troubling issues by exploring them from the viewpoint of students and their schoolmates on the student press.

9.       Underscores the importance of being literate, via the school’s sponsorship and support of the newspaper as a valuable source of information.

10.  Forges links that help make students feel more like knowledgeable participants in the educational process.

THE DEVILS’ ADVOCATE is published monthly throughout the school year (nine issues per year).  The cost is 50 cents per issue.

 

Membership is open to 10-12 graders by application in the spring of each school year.
