Putting Your Web Page On the Web |
Diane Bennett, our own Mt. Juliet High School Computer Teacher, will be teaching a workshop for kids which is hosted by Volunteer State Community College on the Vol State Campus. Information about the Summer Scholars Program can be obtained by contacting The Continuing Education Department at Volunteer State Community College. Web Site Design will cover such topics as analyzing good web pages online, identifying key elements of a home page, working with graphics, taking digital pictures, and designing effective pages. Students will create personal home pages keeping in mind issues of safety online. This workshop will focus on managing all the files involved in creating a web page. Students in the Computer Wizardry session will study the importance of computers in our information society, learn how the parts of the computer work together, identify safety in using the Web, explore educational and recreational Web sites, work with vocabulary and keyboarding skills, and create files in paint and word processing. Students have a chance to interact with each other in teamwork and hands-on computer applications to strengthen their computer confidence and skills . This is an excellent opportunity to get your children involved in learning technology skills with others to encourage the importance of continuing their learning over the summer months. The links provided at the left will be used in these workshops and are good examples of web sites safe for kids. The importance of kids using the web in a supervised manner is very important. This will be emphasized during the workshops mentioned above. This workshop focuses on students getting hands-on experience using current technology and emphasizes the role the computer plays today in our information society.
