Document Creation Design

Document creation design is related to software that is used to create, modify, store, retrieve, and print documents (word processing). There are few industries that don't use word processing in some way.  Whether it is writing a business letter to employees, or printing envelopes with addresses on them, word processing is an important skill.  A few examples of jobs that use document creation design, or word processing, are secretarial jobs, administrative jobs, and customer support services.

The skills learned in document creation design will prove very valuable in just about any career.  A variety of applications used to teach students document creation design in Microsoft Works, Microsoft Word, and PageMaker 6.5.

Database

You will learn how to use databases in Information Management Systems.  You will learn how to create, edit, update, query, and sort reports using database management features of various software packages.  Some jobs utilize databases such as companies that keep a record of customers and/or employees and have to be updated often. 

The programs we use to cover database design in Information Mangement Systems  is Microsoft Access and selective features of Excel and Word.

Spreadsheets

There are many jobs that incorporate the use of spreadsheets into their business.  They use spreadsheets to calculate salaries, order items, create charts, and do many other valuable business needs.

Spreadsheet skills are very useful to have in any business institution.  The application used to design spreadsheets in Computer Tech I is Microsoft Excel.

Graphic Design

There are a wide variety of jobs that relate to graphic design.  From letterhead images to corporate logos, graphic design is a large area of the work world.  In this class you will learn the very basics of graphic design, such as placing the images and creating simple shapes.

The program used to place images in is Microsoft Word.  We also use Microsoft Paint to teach basics.  Clip art is also used extensively from various gallery and Internet sources.
