Jobs in Desktop Publishing
The desktop publishing industry is a very large industry. It ranges from large newspapers to advertisements in magazines. A few examples of jobs related to desktop publishing are a newspaper editor, a magazine editor, and an engineer for a large scale publishing company.
The skills you will learn in desktop publishing will come in handy no matter what you do. If you need to design a business card, for example, you don't have to hire someone to do it. You can also design your own letterheads or even publish a small newsletter.
The application we use to teach desktop publishing skills in Computer Tech II is Adobe PageMaker 6.5. This program may change in future classes.

HTML design is one of the fastest growing occupations and one of the most lucrative. It involves designing, creating, and publishing web pages. There are many jobs that relate to HTML design, such as large companies who need web pages designed, small private business that may just need a small page, or a news site that needs constant updating. Perhaps the best thing about HTML design is that it all can be done on one computer, and even in your own home. It can be very complex, or very simple.
You will learn a bit about HTML design. You will learn how to design and create web pages. You will also do a page for the Mount Juliet High School Web Page. The application used to teach HTML design in Computer Tech II is Microsoft FrontPage.
