LEGAL AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES 1 (5330) 1

Open to grades 10, 11, and 12
Provides an overview of our legal system including
corrections, juvenile, courts and law, ethics, constitutional issues,
legislation, theories and principles of criminal law, law enforcement, history
and philosophy of the court system, and alternate programs. For students interested in pre-law,
corrections and penal systems, and law enforcement. Includes guest speakers and mock trials.

Prerequisite:
Legal and Protective Services 1
Continuation of Legal and Protective Services 1
covering the Constitution; federal, state, and local court systems; career
positions (law enforcement, corrections, attorneys, etc.); corrections system;
and state and local law. Includes mock
scenes, criminal investigation techniques, and forensics.

2 credits (full year) or students may
opt to take either term for one (1) credit

Legal and Protective Services 2
Application of knowledge gained in Legal and
Protective Services 1 and 2
through the use of research, information-gathering, interviewing, observations, and the formulation and evaluation of statistical data. Development of problem-solving and teamwork skills in conjunction with the development of academic skills. Designed for seniors who plan to continue their education in the areas of legal and protective service careers.
