Mt. Juliet High School uses an advanced computer classroom management system called Videodidact that helps students learn more in a shorter amount of time. Through a hardware-based video network, the teacher is able to access any student's screen from a central workstation or send the instructor's screen to any or all students in the class. Without a doubt, our students are better trained in a shorter amount of time because of this system. Visit the Educational & Business Systems Inc. (EBS) Web site for more information.
Educational Background
I was born and raised in Wilson County in the Mt. Juliet community. I attended 1st through 12th grades at Mt. Juliet Elementary and Mt. Juliet High School graduating with honors in 1971 (my mother and father also graduated from Mt. Juliet High School). I enrolled in Middle Tennessee State University immediately after graduating from high school and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in May of 1974. I returned to work on my Master of Business Education degree in 1978 and was awarded my M.B.E. in August, 1980.
Work Experience
After obtaining my B.S. degree from college, I went to work as an administrative secretary in one of Nashville's earliest computing companies: Automatic Data Processing. I worked there until 1977 and was exposed to much of the early days of computing in Nashville. I then went to work for Hospital Affiliates as secretary to Mr. Phil Bredesen (former mayor of Nashville). It was during this time, I learned much which prepared me to teach skills relating to the business world. After seeking employment in the Wilson County School system for about 3 1/2 years, I was hired as a business education teacher for the school year 1977-78.
