Participation Grade Rubric for ___________________________­­­_____

 

If there is one thing everybody knows, it’s who is reliable, who is knowledgeable, who is deep and who is shallow.  This usually doesn’t get discussed, but on an operational level, everybody knows.

 

Your Goal:  To be a creatively, enthusiastic and actively involved learner as well as possess the skills, attitudes, tenacity, and drive to exceed expectations.

Attendance

Understands the importance of work—present everyday or almost everyday and makes up work for any excused absences; no unexcused absences.

Absences are infrequent but student is concerned about missing work and is eager to find out work missed before being reminded.  Work is made up regularly but there are still no unexcused absences.

Student misses four or more days during a grading period including any days not related to school business. Expresses little or no concern for make-up work for absences.  Some absences may be unexcused. 

Punctuality

Always on time; makes every effort to begin classwork promptly.  Is prepared with necessary supplies. 

Periodically arrives late with acceptable excuse and/or note but does not place major importance on being on time for class.

Frequently arrives late; does not have excused note for tardies.  Places little importance on punctuality.  May knowingly interrupt class activities during entrance.

Deadlines

Continually works hard to meet deadlines and does so using time in class wisely.  When and if behind in work, willing to use extra lab time to maintain high standard of work on schedule.

Meets deadlines but has to scramble to stay caught up.  May have to be prompted to submit work by deadline.  Work product may be less than desired due to rushing the job.

Deadlines hold little or no meaning.  Little or no attempt is made to submit work on time or without prompting. May not stay on schedule with assignments.  May not take advantage of extra lab time to meet deadlines.

Productivity

Concentrates on using time wisely.  Begins work promptly and continues working until assignment is complete without being reminded to be on task.  High concentration of skills.

Tends to follow lead of class.  Sometimes appears unmotivated but generally concentrates on completing work as assigned with an on-task attitude.  Concentration level varies by day.

Is easily distracted and may or may not distract others frequently.  Must frequently be asked to begin work and/or not shut down early. Must be reminded to stay on assignment and/or back out of programs not currently a part of the assignment.

Work Product

 

Listens, reads and understands task at hand.  Focuses on performing steps necessary to obtain an accurate finished product.  Product is employer ready.  Assignment is highly accurate with little or no revision needed.

Sometimes must ask for additional guidance in completing work or must be prompted to interpret directions more accurately.  Sometimes hands in assignments with correctable errors.

Frequently seeks to be reminded of task details.  Has little comprehension of the final product.  Submits work often knowing it must be redone to achieve industry standard.


A+  (97-100) = 15 pts.

B+ (91-92) = 13 pts.

C+  (82-84) = 10 pts.

D+    (73-76) = 7 pts.

A   (93-96) = 14 pts.

B   (88-90) = 12 pts.

C    (79-81) = 9 pts.

D      (70-72) = 6 pts.

 

B-  (85-87) = 11 pts

C-   (77-78) = 8 pts.

F       Below 70 = 5 pts
