For Mt. Juliet High School
3565 N. Mt. Juliet Road
Mt. Juliet, Tennessee  37122

The nine lessons below represent the work of Mt. Juliet High School faculty members whose technology-rich lessons were chosen as a "Best Practice" for Round Two of the TLCF 2001 Grant.  As in Round One, you will find outstanding examples of successful teaching-learning projects and strategies that show our classrooms are places of active learning where students are moving toward greater achievement and performance.  The lessons below are in no particular order.  Each lesson has a lesson plan including Tennessee Curriculum Standards appropriate for the course, an evaluation rubric, student files, one or more samples of student work, and teacher reflection of the lesson.  Note each lesson was judged on the basis of the rubric for a "Best Practice" lesson by our jurying team

All lessons are student-centered learning activities requiring higher-order thinking skills and are designed to respond to a variety of learning styles and skill levels to meet Tennessee Curriculum Standards.  A committee of school officials was formed to evaluate the lessons.  After determining the process used in selecting Best Practice examples, a rubric was established.

Designed in connection with more than 27 hours of on-site professional development training for each teacher, these lessons include the support of a local Technology Coach, wireless laptop computers, and other technology resources.  A significant amount of time was also spent by each teacher outside of their assigned training time working on their own and attending after-school professional development workshops.

A "Best of the Best" lesson will be selected by a committee of university technology education specialists from Round One and Round Two.  This teacher will receive a personal laptop computer and recognition in our school and community for exemplary work in technology integration.

In appreciation to the teachers above, it is our hope you will find these lessons helpful.   All files are listed in Acrobat Reader format (.pdf).  To view them, you will need to download Acrobat Reader from the following site:  http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
