How would you like to have a class that is bursting with excitement and enthusiasm, on task, cooperative, and inspired with creativity? Until this year, I thought that it was only a fantasy of the perfect class. Little did I know that Diane Bennett was on the case and affecting a rescue from terminal LaLa Land! During the summer, Diane had procured a magic bullet that shot right to the heart of all that ails the teachers' world of student apathy. This magic bullet was in the form of a technology grant that helped our school acquire three carts of laptops and a projector.
No more one-computer classrooms. No more running to the library. No more jockeying for a position in the computer lab. With the flick of a few keys, we now can sign up for one or two carts of 16 laptop computers to use in the convenience of our own room without wasting time or disturbing others. The students see the carts, and with Pavlovian responses, know that they are going to have a new and exciting project to challenge them.
It's not only fun and exciting, but also a mind tweaking experience. Learning standards have never been easier. An added benefit is that grammatical and spelling errors are glaringly obvious, so awareness has been taken up a level.
Students, parents, teachers, and administrators love it. We are thrilled to have a super hero in our corner at last. Technology has saved the day! Sounds like my fantasy was not the only one that was fulfilled!
