CLARKSVILLE — Quarterback Reed Gurchiek accounted for all four of Mt. Juliet's touchdowns in overtime as the Bears beat Kenwood 42-35 Friday night.
Gurchiek passed for two scores and ran for two more, including the game-winner in the fourth overtime for the Bears (4-3, 4-0 6-4A).

He threw his two touchdown passes in overtime to Vaughn Cornelia.
It looked like the game was over when Kenwood failed to convert a fourth down with 2:30 left in the game. However, as the Bears tried to run out the clock by running the ball, Gurchiek fumbled and the Knights recovered on the 50. Two plays later, Triston Mcafee launched a 50-yard pass that Jeremiah Rutledge caught in the end zone to tie it 14-14.
The Knights then recovered a fumble by Cornelia and took over at the Bears 38. But the Knights couldn't score and the game progressed to overtime.
In overtime, the Knights relied on Marquette Gray and he didn't let them down. For three straight overtime possessions, Gray found the end zone and the extra points were good.
The Knights (1-6, 1-3) set the tone of the game early with big plays on defense. They created three turnovers in the first half, capitalizing on one to take a 7-0 lead. David Hale shut down the Bears' opening drive when he intercepted a pass thrown by Gurchiek.
At the 9:08 mark in the second quarter, Mt. Juliet's Brady Earnhardt fumbled and the Knights recovered on the Bears' 32. Two plays later, Marquette Gray broke free for a 26-yard touchdown.
Antonio Spates picked off another Gurchiek pass with 2:22 left in the first half.
A big play by the Bears changed the momentum of the game late in the third quarter. Gurchiek completed a 44-yard pass to Cornelia that put the Bears in Knights territory. In the same drive, Gurchiek sprinted 8 yards to convert a fourth down. He continued to scramble and set up a first-and-10 on the Knights 10. Danny Valensic completed the drive with a 10-yard dash to the end zone.
The momentum continued in the Bears' favor when Kenwood's Rick Johnson fumbled with 9:21 left. The Bears recovered and it took only two plays to take advantage of the opportunity. Earnhardt went through the middle of the defense and emerged untouched to run 40 yards for a touchdown.
