Format and Instructions for Research Paper:

 

 

  I.  12 font; bold; times new Roman; double space

 

 II.  To set up double spacing:

       A.  Go to format

       B.  Open format paragraph

       C.  Click on spacing

       D.  Find line spacing

       E.  Choose double

III.  To set up margins:

        A.  Go to file

        B.  Open page setup

        C.  Set margins

              1.  Top           0.3”

              2.  Bottom     1”

              3.  Left          1”

              4.  Right        1”

              5.  Header     0.1”

              6.  Footer      0.5”

 IV.  On the first page of the research paper (not the outline) at the top on the right side, ½”

        down is your last name with page no.-- Jenkins 1.  On the left side, 1” down, double-

 V.  Center the title. 

VI.  On the second page of your paper, click on right align & type your last name, space  

        once, type 2; press enter twice (double space twice) and click on right align.

     VII.  On the Works Cited page, title is 1” down; double space after the title.

    VIII.  All other lines are double-spaced.

   IX.  To check spacing of words especially on the outline and works cited pages, go to

               tools, options, view, formatting marks, then check the box beside spaces.  This puts   

               one dot for each space between words.  For example, two spaces are needed after

               periods at the end of a sentence and after a colon.
