Bear News at Mt. Juliet Middle School

WE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF SOME OF THE PROBLEMS OUR P.E. DEPT. IS ENCOUNTERING WITH THE MOVE AND GETTING THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM GOING.

WE HAVE TWO ROOMS IN THE OLD SHOP AREA OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL WHICH WILL BE USED FOR DRESSING OUT AND FOR OTHER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS BOWLING, SHUFFLEBOARD, PING PONG, DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION, AEROBIC WORKOUTS, WII, AND VARIOUS OTHER THINGS THAT THE STUDENTS WILL ROTATE THROUGH DURING THE NINE WEEKS. HOWEVER, DUE TO THINGS OUT OF OUR CONTROL WE ARE WAITING FOR THE AREAS TO BE CLEANED, PRESSURED WASHED, AND STAINED.  WE ARE ABLE TO DRESS OUT IN THOSE AREAS BUT NOT HAVE ACTIVITIES. WE HOPE THAT THINGS GET ROLLING SOON AND ANTICIPATE IN MID SEPTEMBER THIS WILL BE UP AND RUNNING.  WE ARE DOING THE BEST WE CAN UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND WE WILL BE USING THE TRACK AS WELL AS CHARLIE DANIELS UNTIL WE GET THESE AREAS.  WE HOPE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND BE PATIENT WITH THE PHYSCIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AS WE ARE DOING ALL THAT WE CAN TO GET THINGS GOING. Science club meeting is Sept. 2^nd at 7:45 AM in room 143.

Fundraiser turn in days are Tuesday, Sept. 2^nd and Wednesday, Sept. 3^rd.

            The cost is $5.00 and there will be free food and soft drinks.

            There will be a “So you think you can dance?” contest.

Due to transportation issues it has become necessary for Mt. Juliet Middle School to change its start and release times. As of tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, Mt. Juliet Middle will start classes at 8:20 am and release students at 3:20 pm. The school doors will open at 7:45 am. If you have any questions, you can contact Mr. Gwaltney at 754-6688.

Your PAWS group is especially excited this year to work with you. We have dedicated parents and there is a new energy in PAWS.  I wanted to let you know that we are going to promote the BoxTops for Education Program this year.

Please let your students know that we are going to be collecting these this year and that we will have incentives for TOP students  and TOP Home Rooms. More info TBA.

This is where I will need your help. We will establish a central collection site soon, but each student’s box tops should be turned in (preferably in a sandwich bag) labeled with their name and home room. Our goal for this year is $1250.

School Fundraiser

            Fundraising starts tomorrow.  We will be selling Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie dough.  Information will be sent home tomorrow.

Student picture day is this Friday, Aug. 22^nd.  All Students must be in dress code.

If your student missed the Science Club meeting today please come by and see Mrs. Liddle in room 143 or Mrs. Lansford in room 241 for some important information.
