The Southside Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes was established in 1993.  It is sponsored by Renee Manning.   The local organization meets every Wednesday morning in Ms. Harris' room at 7:00 (or whenever you can get there) and is open to not only athletes, but anyone interested in attending.  Although we often have guest speakers from throughout the county, many classes are led by the students themselves.  Through the Middle Tennessee leadership of Steve Robinson, many Southside students have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Shaun came and spoke with our FCA on Thursday, April 11th.  He told us about his upbringing and touched on his athletic accomplishments.  He stressed the importance of setting high goals to encourage maximum effort in all we do.  He challenged all to work to meet our goals and to continually re-evaluate.  He was an inspiration to all our kids and many went forward to pray with him.  His fellowship with all after the program was exciting.  He stayed and signed autographs and met with anyone wanting to talk.  There are many new Seattle Seahawk fans at Southside School beginning right now.  Do not, however, expect to hear "Roll Tide" in Rocky Top country anytime soon!

On Friday, January 5th, Elliot Carson, former star tightend of the Vanderbilt Commodores, came and spoke with  the Southside FCA.  Elliot talked about his relationship with Jesus Christ and how important that relationship is.  He also talked about his commitment to education and the importance of prioritizing his time to meet responsibilities.  After the meeting, Elliot stayed as long as kids wanted to ask questions and signed autographs for all.   We  really appreciate him taking time out of his schedule to share with the young men and women at Southside.   We would love to see you catching passes from Steve McNair next year!
