2009 WILSON CENTRAL STUDENT CHESS TOURNAMENT
Open to students of all grades Elementary through High School

REGISTRATION0800 A.M. – 0830 A.M.

PRE-TOURNAMENT BRIEF:  08:30
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD ATTEND.

ENTRY FEE$10.00 advance registration/ $15.00 at the door.  

On-line registration email dempseyj@wcschools.com with your name, grade, and the name of your school.  Entry fee must be paid before Saturday March 14th.

PLAY09:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (Ending time may vary due to play)

Round 1:  Round Robins play to rank (class) players as (A), (B), (C), etc. Participants can expect to play approximately 3 -4 hours to determine their class.

1200:  Brief lunch break (Concessions will be available)

Round 2:  TOURNAMENT ROUND is a double elimination bracket event to determine first, second, and third place in each class. “A” players will play “A” players, “B” will play “B,” etc. The round will begin with a random draw. A player must lose twice in their class to be eliminated. A tie in a class will result in a face-off game.

 PRIZES: First, Second, Third place certificates and medals in each class, A, B, C, etc. First, Second, and Third place winners will also receive an additional prize.

RULES:

  1. Standard Chess Rules
  2. CHEATERS will be disqualified.
  3. Touch a piece move the piece.
  4. Thirty minute time limit. Unfinished games will be determined by piece value.
  5. Slow play will be prompted by tournament officials.
  6. Winner determined by either checkmate or piece value.
  7. Win is 4 points
  8. Loss is 1 point
  9. Draw is 2 points each player
