What Should I Be Doing?

The time has come. Your high school days will be over before you know it. In just a few short months, you will officially be finished with this chapter of your life. Where will you go from here?

That is the question you should all be seriously thinking about. Many of you will be going to college or to a 2 year or technical school. We suggest that you first make a list of all the schools you are considering. Then narrow that list down to a manageable number (3-7). These are the schools from which you need to be gathering information.

Visit the Guidance Office. We have materials and applications for many different schools. You may take one of our applications. If we do not have what you are looking for, call the school’s admissions office or visit their website. You can find many college websites by visiting www.allaboutcollege.com.

Check deadlines. All schools have different deadlines for applicationsr and scholarships. Make sure you find out what those dates are and stick to them. If you are trying to get a scholarship from a college, make sure you check scholarship deadlines as well. Often scholarship deadlines are different than application deadlines and can be very early in the year.

You must be self-motivated! This is your life. Don’t wait around for someone else to tell you what to do. Make something happen for yourself!
