Wilson County Schools is the 9th largest school district in the state, with approximately 500 new students enrolling each year. In addition to the twenty (K-12) schools that are located throughout the county, the district offers three non-traditional learning programs, including an alternative school, online school, and adult high school.
Academic Performance- More than $47,500,000 in scholarships were offered to the graduating Class of 2021.
- Students earn over 3,000 college credits annually while enrolled in Dual Credit, Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses.
- More than 95% of our teachers and administrators are ranked at or above expectations, according to the TN Department of Education’s Performance Evaluation.
- 7.6% increase in average ACT scores over the last 5 years, with more than 50% earning above a 21.

Science & Technology
The district places a strong emphasis on the integration of technology into the classroom and the importance of teachers utilizing creative learning strategies to help keep students engaged in the learning process.
In 2020, Wilson County Schools achieved our ultimate goal of implementing 1:1 technology throughout the district so each student has a dedicated laptop for their use.
Career & Technical Education
CTE is an integral part of Wilson County Schools with each high school offering a variety of programs. There are 121 different courses being taught with 20 industry certifications and many other EPSOs available to students. Subject areas include: Agriculture, Business and Finance, Culinary, Criminal Justice, Mechatronics, STEM, Information Technology and other trades. Students are also involved in Career Technical Student Organizations that are affiliated with their respective State and National Organization. Each year our student organizations are ranked as some of the best in the state with consistent State and National contest winners.
AthleticsThe district offers a wide range of competitive sports. Teams and individuals from our district have won numerous district and state titles, making this a “must visit” destination for college recruiters. Our athletes are
competing collegiately at every level including the service academies, Ivy League, and the SEC.
In 2021:
- Close to 4,000 student athletes were involved in a competitive sport at the middle and high school level.
- Seventy–two members of the graduating class of 2021 signed athletic scholarships.
- Fourteen high school teams won their conference championships.
- Fifty-two student athletes participated in the TSSAA state tournament, with five of those athletes winning a state championship.

Fine Arts
With Music City just 20 minutes away, it’s no surprise that our student bands and choral groups consistently excel at competition. The district also offers a wide range of opportunities for students interested in visual arts, theater, and audio-visual production.
- More than 250 K-12 students from 20 schools participated in the Superintendent’s Art Exhibit at the Frist Museum.
- Choral groups performed in festivals, parades, and all-state choirs and received national recognition.
- Drama & theatre programs serve students throughout K-12.
- Our high school bands continue their award-winning performances in marching band, winter drum line, strings and woodwinds.
