Stoner Creek Elementary & West Wilson Middle Placement for 2020-2021

  • The district has received many questions involving the placement of West Wilson Middle & Stoner Creek Elementary students for the 2020-2021 school year.  In response to those questions we offer this perspective with more information regarding this being released later this spring:

At this time, there are many decisions the school district will have to make based on current events that have impacted both the county and the country. With the tornado destruction from March 3, the district had to make a plan for the students and staff of both Stoner Creek Elementary School and West Wilson Middle School. As previously shared, the district’s plan is for those two schools to use the facilities at Springdale Elementary and Mount Juliet Middle School for the remainder of the school year. However, as you are aware, all school districts in Tennessee recently closed due to the spread of COVID-19.

Taking everything that has occurred into account, the district will have much to determine prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. These determinations will take into account multiple factors, and it will include what is best for all students involved. While there will not be a solution that meets the desires of every single parent, student, and staff member, the district will ensure it meets the needs of students and teachers in light of the circumstances.

The district’s goal is to use time between now and the end of the school year to look at the various options available, and we hope to have more information for the public by May 21.

Educator of the Month

  • In partnership with Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, we are excited to announce the Educator of the Month! It goes to a very deserving teacher at Wilson Central High School! Congrats to DeAna Duncan!

She is the Audio/Video Productions teacher at WCHS. Her principal, Mr. Travis Mayfield, nominated her for this honor and several of her students provided feedback on why she should receive “Educator of the Month.”

Ms. Duncan has been teaching this particular program for about three years. Students are able to get very creative in her class using cameras, editing equipment, studio sets and produce script writing. These skills are essential for students wanting to pursue a career in broadcasting and film production. However, some students take the class just to really boost their creativity in whatever subject they love the most! Ms. Duncan provides a path for these students to succeed!
