Required Entrance Documents

Any child who will be five years old on or before August 15th of the current school year is eligible to enroll in the Wilson County School System.  Children who are 5 after August 15th are not eligible to attend kindergarten.

The following entrance requirements must be met:

Required Documents

  • The child is a resident of Wilson County.
  • Birth certificate, baptismal records, entry in family bible, hospital records, religious certificate showing date of birth, an adoption record, a previously verified school record, or a passport can serve as proof of birth.
  • Tennessee Certificate of Immunization and proof of physical within the last year
  • Photo I.D. of Parent/Legal Guardian
  • Two Proofs of Residence. Examples:
    • TN Driver’s License or Photo I.D. with current address.
    • Mortgage/Lease Statement for current address dated within 30 days prior to enrollment.
    • Utility Bill such as water, gas, electric or landline phone bill dated within 30 days prior to enrollment.
    • Motor vehicle registration with the current address.
    • Employment record (ex. most recent check stub with home address) dated within 30 days prior to enrollment.
    • Voter’s Registration Card.
    • Document from TN department of Human/Children’s Services for benefits with current address dated within 30 days prior to enrollment.
    • Bank statement for current address dated within 30 days prior to enrollment.
  • Custody Papers (if applicable)
  • A copy of W-2 OR most recent year tax return. (For PreK Only)
  • Outside evaluation and/or IEP, if applicable.  (For Prek Only)

If you are experiencing homelessness in transition, an immigrant, a migrant, or a student in foster care, please submit an application and WCS will then work with the family to obtain additional documentation."
