Full-Time Student Application

  • Eligibility:

    • High School students must have a 2.5 GPA to enter.
    • High School students must not be more than two credits behind their cohort.
    • It is strongly recommended that all students be reading on grade level to enter.
    • 3-5 students must have a Parent available to work with their student on all assignments as the Parent of an online student at this age is the Facilitator for their child's education.

    Process:

    1. Speak with your child's School Counselor at your zoned school about your interest in TVOLS.
    2. Call TVOLS if further information is needed.
    3. Print the TVOLS application and complete it. Personal information should be filled out by the parent/student. Courses should be filled out with the advice of your School Counselor. Current GPA must be included. Full-time applications require the signature of the School Counselor and an Administrator from the zoned school.
    4. Either the School Counselor or the parent can email/scan/drop off the application at the TVOLS office. Email to Mrs. Petty at pettybec100@wcschools.com.
    5. TVOLS faculty will get in touch with the Parent to schedule an orientation if the student is accepted.
    6. All orientations will be on TVOLS campus and require the presence of both the parent/guardian and student.
    7. There is a $200 registration fee (per semester) for full-time students. Fees must be paid by the date of the orientation and checks should be made payable to Wilson County Schools.

Part-Time Student Application

  • Eligibility:

    • All part-time courses must come at the request of the School Counselor or Administration.
    • The course selected is not offered within the academic school year at the school which the student attends; or
    • Although the course is offered at the school which the student attends, the student will not be able to take it due to an unresolvable scheduling conflict; or
    • The course serves as a supplement to extend homebound instruction; or
    • The principal, with agreement from the student's teachers and parent(s)/guardian(s), determines that the student requires a differentiated or accelerated learning environment.

    Process:

    1. All part-time applications come at the request of the School Counselor and zoned school. Speak with your child's School Counselor about your interest in an online TVOLS class. Parents cannot request an online class independently of their zoned school.
    2. Call TVOLS if further information is needed.
    3. Print the TVOLS application and complete it. Personal information should be filled out by the parent/student. Courses should be filled out with the advice of your School Counselor. Part-time applications require the signature of the School Counselor.

    5. TVOLS faculty will schedule orientations at each school during the school day at the start of each semester.
    6. There is a registration fee per class for part-time students. Fees must be paid by the date of the orientation and checks should be made payable to Wilson County Schools.
    7. Part-time students will be assigned a school Lab Facilitator during the student orientation. The Lab Facilitator is a teacher at the school who will monitor student progress throughout the semester.
    8. Students will complete and submit all assignments on time as assigned by the online instructor to receive full credit for the submissions.

Technology Required

  • TVOLS students are required to have high speed internet access at home provided by the parent/guardian.
     
    TVOLS students may use their own laptop/PC or one will be provided for them by the school.
     
    Students receive a Chromebook unless in a high school Computer course. These students will be loaned a Windows laptop.
     
    High School math students are encouraged to purchase a graphing calculator. They are provided for students while on campus but do not go home with students.
