    Financial Aid Tips

Discuss the family financial situation in regards to paying for college with your child.

    • Attend the Financial Aid Night held at Mt. Hope High School presented by the College Planning Center of RI.
    • Create a FSA ID ( your electronic signature which is needed to complete the FAFSA).
    • File your FAFSA online.
    • In addition to the FAFSA, some colleges also require the submission of the CSS/Profile.
    • Colleges may have an earlier application deadline to be considered for scholarships. Check the college’s website for specific deadlines.

FSA ID:  Needed to complete/sign the online FAFSA. If you are a parent and need to electronically sign your child’s FAFSA, you need your own FSA ID. If you have more than one child attending college, you can use the same FSA ID to sign their applications.

FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid – If you are applying for financial aid, all colleges require that this form be completed.

CSS/Financial Aid Profile:  Certain colleges require this form to also be completed, so examine the chosen college's financial aid requirements.
