The latest Report Card issued by the Tennessee Department of Education indicates that Wilson County Schools performed exceptionally well overall. The new information reflects our commitment to thrive, excel and maintain our position as one of the top performing public school districts throughout the entire state.

Some key highlights from the Report Card, which was issued in late November, shows that Wilson County Schools had significant percentage increases in:
- Overall Success Rate, Up 4.5%
- Mathematics, Up 5.7% at or above grade level.
- English Language Arts, Up 4.8% at or above grade level.

The district also achieved Level 5 status – the highest level possible – in the following areas:
- Overall Student Growth
- English Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Social Studies

Another very positive percentage highlight was a 3.9% increase in the Ready Graduate area. The main parts of the criteria that’s required for a Ready Graduate includes the measure of post-secondary and career readiness among students.

Chronic Absenteeism was also down significantly at 2.8% compared to 2018.

“Our success as a district is a direct result of the dedication of our teachers and administrators, who focus every day on each student's individualized needs," says Wilson County Director of Schools, Dr. Donna Wright. "As the fastest growing county in Tennessee, the community recognizes our schools for their commitment to providing a rigorous curriculum, which focuses on strong literacy and math foundational skills, a thriving fine arts program, competitive athletics, relevant CTE programs, and multiple early post-secondary opportunities for students.”

This information follows another successful report issued earlier this fall indicating that over half of Wilson County Schools were named Reward Schools and the district received, "Exemplary Status."

Wilson County Schools Director of Accountability Jennifer Cothron is highly encouraged by the latest TN Report Card.

“It reflects positive trends in several crucial areas for district-wide success," says Cothron. "Our district has been able to maintain success, even with strong annual growth in terms of enrollment. While these recognitions are incredible, and we take great pride in, we know that we must continue to strive for excellence and not become complacent on past successes. We look to keep building and improving on a daily basis.”
