Summer Learning Camp 2025
Summer Learning Camp Overview
Pursuant to the legislation of the Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act, Wilson County Schools offers Summer Learning Camps to priority students currently in Grades PreK- 8. There is no cost for students who attend Summer Learning Camp.

Attendance
In order to receive the maximum benefit from Summer Learning Camp, students are expected to attend 90% of the entire program. Students are expected to attend all scheduled camp days unless illness or emergency prevents attendance. The parent will be expected to contact the student’s Instructor or Site Coordinator by e-mail as soon as possible if s/he will be absent. If the student has more than one absence (excused or unexcused), the student will be dismissed from the Summer Learning Camp program.
June 19 is a federal holiday; therefore, all PK-8 students will be required to attend Friday, June 06, 2025.
Reasons for an excused absence will continue to adhere to the WCS Board Policy and will require appropriate documentation.
3rd Grade Attendance Requirement
In order for third-grade students to be compliant with the TN Third Grade Promotion and Retention Law, the student must have, at minimum, a 90% attendance rate. If the student has more than one absence (excused or unexcused), the student will not meet the 90% attendance rate.
One make-up day for 3rd grade only is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025, from 7:30 am-2:30 pm, at your child’s Summer Learning site.
Due to the 3rd grade attendance requirement, students must enroll and attend Summer Learning Camp beginning June 2, 2025, while they are awaiting the appeal process.

Registration Window
March 17, 2025 - April 17, 2025
Summer Learning Camp 2025 registration was emailed specifically to the parents of our priority-list students. If you did not receive the registration link, your child was not identified as a priority student based on the TDOE criteria.
After the 30-day registration window closes for our priority students, the district will review student enrollment numbers to determine if additional space and staffing is available.
Safety
Wilson County Schools partners with the Wilson County Sheriff's Department to provide SROs at each Summer Learning Camp location.
Student Eligibility
Summer Learning Camp 2025 registration was emailed to the parents of our priority-list students currently in grades PreK through 8. Priority student eligibility is based upon the following TN Department of Education Criteria:
- PK-2 students who attend a school during the school year in which fewer than 50% of the students in grades three through five (3-5) scored proficient in math or English Language Arts on the TCAP test.
- PK-2 students who have scored below proficient in English Language Arts or Math (40%) on the most recent data from the i-Ready universal screener.
- PK-2 students who are eligible for temporary assistance from TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
- Grade 3 students who scored below the 50% percentile on the Aimsweb universal screener in English Language Arts or math.
- Grade 3-8 students who scored below proficient in English Language Arts or Math on the most recent universal screener (i-Ready 40%; Aimsweb 50%) or TCAP assessment.
For specific information regarding your child’s eligibility, please contact your child’s school.
Student Seats
Summer Camp seating is limited due to a variety of factors, including budget constraints, class size limits, and other scheduling considerations. To ensure that our priority students have access to the best possible learning environment, Summer Learning Camp seating is carefully managed to ensure that our students receive the same quality instruction. This means that there may be more students who are interested in attending Summer Learning Camp than can be accommodated. Therefore, Summer Learning Camp registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please complete the Summer Learning registration form in Skyward if you wish to register your child for Summer Learning Camp 2025.
Families of priority students will be notified once class capacities have been reached. Students will then be placed on a waitlist. You will be notified of student seat openings and locations to consider enrolling your child at that Summer Camp location.
Student Services
Summer Learning Camp is available to students who have a current IEP, 504, and/or ILP if they meet the criteria of a priority student. Current student services will be reviewed prior to the start of camp. Although the named services do not continue into summer, all student accommodations will be followed.
Special Education Extended School Year (ESY services - separate from Summer Learning Camp) will take place during the Summer Learning Camp dates. Please contact your child’s school if you need more information about ESY.
Transportation
Full-routing school bus service is provided for Summer Learning. Estimated pick-up and drop-off times can be found by clicking the Bus Route & School Zone Lookup on the Transportation page on or after May 27, 2025. Students attending Kids’ Club (both AM and PM) will ride the bus from each Summer Learning site to your child’s zoned school. Note: WAW Kids’ Club will report to West Elementary.
If you choose for your child to ride the bus, s/he is required to attend the assigned SLC site.
